When shimming is required, both sides of the derail must be shimmed equally. Shims should be ordered in even numbers. It is recommended to purchase 2 of each Ready-to-use shim plates, 1/4 in or 1/8 in thick, ensure a proper height adjustment and a secure mounting of hinged derails with Pop-Up Sign Holders.
